SOLIDARITY (RISE UP)
I feel the ground shake below the very spot I'm standing
In a way that it hasn't in a long, long time.
Our hard work used to pay off sooner or later,
But now it's getting harder and harder to climb.
Yeah, sure, they rigged the system so we couldn't promote,
But if we can come together, then they haven't won.
So collect all the slighted, shutout and uninvited,
They can't drown us out when we speak as one.
So, rise up! And stand in solidarity!
We won't be divided and we won't be destroyed!
Rise up! And stand against Disparity!
Bring about Another World they cannot avoid.
I think I'm more mistrusting of Money than Power,
More wary of the neck than I am of the head.
'Cos if you've got the former, you can buy yourself the latter,
Raise the figure ever higher until they jump into bed.
Yeah, sure, to every politician, I am a vote,
But to every CEO, I'm just a dollar sign.
And they'll take what we give, and re-invest it again,
Into the men who write the laws that grow their bottom line.
They can't push it down until it all blows over,
Or evict an idea whose time has finally come,
'Cos awareness for all, indignation and resolve,
Is the source of where this is all coming from.
Yeah, sure, to every 1 percenter, this is a joke,
But it ain't a laughing matter to the 99.
And if they still deny it, we'll go and occupy it,
They can't ignore the People when the People align.
